The music program at Meaford Community School (MCS) is remarkable in terms of introducing young students to the joys of playing an instrument. Students in Grades 6, 7 and 8 learn stringed instruments to a degree rarely seen at those grades. They leave inspired and with a good foundation, and many continue on in the stellar music program at Georgian Bay Secondary School (GBSS).
At the school’s closing assembly for 2015, the Meaford Apple Harvest Craft Show Committee was pleased to help the program and the students along with a $10,000 donation. The money will help repair and enhance the school’s instrument inventory.
